1. Are dogs allowed in local parks?

Dogs are allowed in local parks as long as they remain on a leash.

2. Am I required to license my dog with the Town of Irondequoit?

Yes, the Town requires that any dog over the age of 4 months, that remains in the Town for a period of more than 30 days, must be licensed with the Town.

Applications to license your dog can be obtained in the Clerk's Office at Town Hall or on the Animal Control page. Dog licenses must be renewed yearly, and this can be done online. For questions about applying for a dog license please contact the Clerk's Office at 585-467-8840.

3. Do I need to leash my dog while going for a walk?

Yes, any time your dog is outside your property limits, the dog should be restrained.

4. Are residents allowed to feed deer in the Town of Irondequoit?

No. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) prohibits the feeding of deer. To report any violations, please contact your local DEC office.

5. Is there a restriction on the number of dogs per household in the Town of Irondequoit?

Residents are permitted to have two dogs under Town Code. Any resident with more than two dogs must file an application for a special use permit from Animal Control.
